Orchid Island, or Lanyu in Mandarin, is located off the coast of Taitung. The island is named after its large variety of orchids that once used to cover the island.

Home to about 500 sea gypsies, also known as Chao Ley, Ko Lipe in the Andaman Sea is surrounded by 52 uninhabited islands. Ko Lipe means Paper Island.

Also known as ‘Hawaii of the Orient’, Jeju Island is a popular honeymoon destination for newly wed Koreans. Appropriatly, the island boasts a ‘Loveland Erotic Art Park’ displaying phallic sculptures and other exhibits made by graduates from a Seoul university.

Palawan stretches all the way from Mindoro to Borneo and is knows as the last frontier of the Philippines. The province of Palawan is made of of 1768 islands. Oceanographer Jacques Cousteau described Palawan as the most beautiful place he ever explored.

Indian government’s promotion of eco-friendly tourism has been paying off for Havelock Island. Although many accommodations have ‘resort’ in their name, their basic facilities don’t even come close to luxury meanings. In stead of being given a name, the island’s beaches are number 1 to 7.

Pulau Langkawi, Malaysia

Part of an archipel of 99 islands, Pulau Langkawi lies about 30km offshore from Malaysia’s Peninsula. Take the cable car to the top of Gunung Mat Cincang and walk the Sky Bridge for spectacular views as far as Thailand.
