Situated around 2000 metres above sea level, Dharamsala and the nearby town of McLeod Ganj are home to the Dalai Lama and the Tibetan government in exile, and are the reasons why thousands of tourists flock here every year. This Himalaya foothills area is covered in dense forest, and there are numerous treks to waterfalls, remote villages and the nearby Dhauladhar mountain range.

Haridwar is one of the holiest cities in India. Millions of Indians make the pilgrimage here to bath in the Ganges and take part in the aarti (religious ceremony) that starts at 7pm every day.
