Although just 80 km from the north coast of Java, few travellers make it to the Karimunjawa Islands. This small atoll of 27 forested islands have idyllic beaches that that rival any in Asia. The sands are white, the seas are crystal clear, and the reefs, abundant with a huge variety of hard corals, are home to hundreds of species of fish. And if that's not enough to tempt the adventurous traveller, the locals are amongst the friendliest you'll meet anywhere in Asia.

Karimunjawa National Park, also Karimun Jawa National Park, is a national marine park designated in the Karimunjawa archipelago, Jepara Regency, Central Java, Indonesia. It lies 80 km north west of Jepara, Central Java in the Java Sea. The national park was formally declared as Marine Protection Area in 2001. Based on popular local myth, this archipelago was discovered by Sunan Nyamplungan, the nephew of Sunan Kudus who is one of the Wali Sanga.
Karimunjawa is also a tourist attraction popular for its white sandy beach, pristine coral reefs, challenging treks through the hills, the pilgrimage to Sunan Nyamplungan Cemetery, and the customs and traditions of the Karimunjawa community. ... read more

Designated as a national marine park. Karimunjawa consists of many small islands, with the main ones being Karimunjawa island, Kemujan island, Menjangan Besar island, and Menjangan Kecil island.
Mostly low lying islands with sandy beaches. There is some fringing mangrove around Kemujan island.
It is very hot here in the dry season (approximately April to October) and wet and humid in the rainy season.
There are chartered plane from Semarang that flies from Semarang to Dewandaru Airport in Kemujan island. There also a regular ferry that sail from Tanjung Emas port in Semarang and Jepara port to Karimunjawa island. ... read more
